Meet the Dogs
We feel lucky to have such a good thing going and know that others may want to be a part of the ReRun mission! Therefore, supporters of ReRun have the opportunity to sponsor our dogs for a season. Anybody can sponsor a dog - an individual, a family, a business, or even on behalf of somebody special. A sponsorship is for a season (September to April) and helps offset the expenses related to keeping our dogs healthy and thriving. Sponsorship includes 'pupdates' on your dog, your name on our website, and shout-outs on social media. You can sponsor a specific dog by clicking the "shop" button in the top menu.
Sponsorship prices are as follows:
2025 Iditarod: $250
Helps cover booties and food for the race, shipping necessities onto the Iditarod trail,
flying dogs back from Nome, and more
Race dogs: $200
Rec dogs: $100
Retired dogs: $50
Helps cover day-to-day expenses such as food, straw, booties, vaccines, and medical care
Note: The pool of race dogs is all the dogs training and contending for a spot on the race team. We cannot guarantee each of these dogs will make the race team, as it depends on many factors related to the individual and the race itself.
Race Dogs
The race team is the pool of the youngest and most motivated dogs. These are the dogs who never want to sit still and are always looking for more. By the end of the winter, the race team is usually doing 50-70 mile runs.

Chase
Birthday: June 15, 2019
From: The August Fund/Bessi and Warren Sinnok
Chase is sister to Jumper and comes from Shishmaref, a small community in northwestern Alaska. She is very vocal and affectionate, and she is always moving. She had never been in harness prior to coming to live at ReRun, but she has really flourished into a stellar sled dog! She will be training for the Iditarod team this year!

Cray
Birthday: May 15, 2019
From: Wade Marrs
We purchased Cray from Wade at the end of winter 2023 and she lives up to her name! Her favorite spot in the team seems to be in swing right behind the leaders. Whenever she gets excited she picks up her metal bowl and runs around in circles, and then she tosses it inside her house and bounces it off all the walls in a drum solo. She also loves jumping in the air and clapping her paws! We love this little spitfire and are excited to have her on the team! Cray will be training on the Iditarod team this year!

2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Mary Helwig in memory of Nadalie

Darwin
Birthday: December 29, 2021
From: Wade Marrs; born at ReRun Kennel
Darwin and his brother Lamarck make up the "evolution" litter that was born at our cabin during a snowstorm in December of 2021. Their mother is Tica from Wade Marrs. Darwin is a natural at the game of fetch and loves chasing tennis balls during the summer. He likes to lead every once in a while, but his favorite spot is in the middle of the team where he can settle into a smooth trot and go with the flow! Darwin is training on the Iditarod team this year.

Domino
Birthday: July 10, 2018
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Domino was adopted from the Fairbanks animal shelter and is easily the craziest dog in the yard. Despite being dialed in on the mushing scene, he still takes a ridiculous amount of time to harness and has been known to break noses in his excitement to get onto the gangline. Once in motion, he is a smooth, strong energizer bunny! Domino will be training this year with the Jr mushers.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Ed Ward

Felix
Birthday: September 9, 2018
From: TJ Schrader/Joar Ulsom
Felix was given to us by TJ Schrader who got him from Joar Ulsom. He is from Norway and has the thickest most luxurious coat. He is an amazing puller who prefers being in the back of the team where he can settle into autopilot and trot along. Felix is a solid reliable dog who can go for miles. His biggest downfall is he is a notoriously picky eater, so he will be training for shorter races with the Jr mushers this year!

Fly
Birthday: May 3, 2021
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Fly and her brother Tippet were adopted from the Fairbanks animal shelter and make up the "fly fishing" litter. Fly is very outgoing, sweet, and irresistibly cute. She has made it clear she was a leader from the second we put her in harness. She has led multiple races and never waivers in her confidence, drive, or appetite. Fly will be training for Iditarod this year!
Fully sponsored by Barb Mathers

Jig
Birthday: March 1, 2023
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Jig came to us from the Fairbanks animal shelter with his brother Tango. We aren't sure of his background other than that he came from a mushing kennel, and he definitely has a desire to run! He has a voracious appetite and will dive into the bucket of food if you aren't fast enough filling his bowl. We are excited to see what he can do! Jig will be training for Iditarod this year.

2025 Iditarod Sponsor: John Olnes

Jumper
Birthday: June 15, 2019
From: The August Fund/Bessi and Warren Sinnok
Jumper started off as a foster from Shishmaref and we decided to adopt her. Per her name, she is springy and energetic and never stops moving. Jumper had never been in harness prior to us adopting her, but she quickly made herself at home up in lead. The race team is undoubtedly where she wants to be, and she will be training for Iditarod this year!
2024-2025 Sponsor: Andrea Schneider
2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Kristen & Nick Janssen

KitKat
Birthday: March 22, 2016
From: Ramey Redington
KitKat is the spicy little sister to Kevlar and is an absolute nut. She will bark for the first mile of every run and twists herself in circles if you take too long to get going. She is a tornado in a 30lb dog body and tears up the trail ahead of her. Her specialty is running in lead where she can be the tiny boss of everyone. KitKat will be helping lead the Jrs in their races this year.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Mariko Shirazi

Lamarck
Birthday: December 29, 2021
From: Wade Marrs; born at ReRun Kennel
Lamarck is the other half to Darwin. Lamarck was born with only half a tail but makes up for it in attitude! He has matured into a very confident lead dog. He is a strong puller, an amazing eater, and an absolute joy to have on the trail. He is also one of the cuddliest dogs in the kennel and loves to snuggle, especially if you scratch his butt. He's a goofball that always has us laughing! Lamarck will be training for Iditarod this year.
Fully sponsored by Sarah Fowell and Paul Delys

Phantom
Birthday: February 17, 2017
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Phantom was adopted from the Fairbanks animal shelter and has a rough history. He started as a sled dog, was adopted as a pet dog, nipped a child, was brought back to the shelter, and we took him in and brought him back to the sled dog life. The running outlet is just what he needed, and he has shown no issues whatsoever with us here. Phantom excels anywhere in the team. He is amazingly strong and confident and will be training with the Iditarod team this year.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Inger Avery
2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Lynn Murphy

PJ
Birthday: June 15, 2019
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
PJ came from Shishmaref with Chase, Jumper, and Wonder and was in a pet home but was experiencing some anxiety. She took herself on a self-guided tour of Fairbanks and landed at Fairbanks Animal Control where we bailed her out. She's been loving being a ReRun dog with her family members, and she's even showing great promise as a confident leader! PJ will be training for Iditarod this year.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Beezy Bentzen
2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Vicki Stutzke

Quinn
Birthday: July 12, 2020
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Quinn was adopted from the Fairbanks animal shelter and originated from a village, though we don't know which one. She is very tiny - but don't let that fool you! Quinn is all muscle and attitude. She has never missed a run and never missed a meal. Vets have referred to her as the little potato dog as she has an amazing ability to keep weight on during races. She is one of the mentally toughest dogs in the kennel and will be training for Iditarod this year. She will also be running with the Jrs in some shorter races.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Ann Valus
2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Jaqueline Matteson

Tango
Birthday: March 1, 2023
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Tango is brother to Jig and is also from Fairbanks Animal Control. Shortly after adopting him, we got incredibly sick and we weren't sure he was going to make it. He pulled through, thankfully, and has made up for lost time by not taking a single day for granted. He is calmer than his brother, but still a puppy at heart and has been turning into an exceptional sled dog! Tango barks for the first mile of every run, and if he knows there's a turn coming up he'll bark to announce that too. He will be training for Iditarod this year!

2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Jennifer Voight

Tippet
Birthday: May 3, 2021
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Tippet is brother to Fly and from the Fairbanks animal shelter. He can be a bit shy at first but bonds to you for life once he warms up. Tippet is head-strong otherwise and has found his natural place at the front of the team. He's really come out of his shell a lot in the past year and it's been fun to watch him grow! His favorite time of day is meal time. Tippet will be training with the Iditarod team this year!

Tuya
Birthday: February 14, 2022
From: PAWS of Nome/Sirius
Tuya originally came from Kotzebue and was brought into Nome by PAWS of Nome. After being brought into Fairbanks by Sirius Sled Dogs Rescue, it became clear that this guy is nuts and needs a job! He is a big, strong, goofy boy with a lovely personality. He's incredibly smart and excels at running in the very back of the team where he will jump back and forth across the gangline to help pull the sled around corners. Tuya will be training for Iditarod this year!

2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Daisy Huang

Vega
Birthday: July 11, 2017
From: Sirius Sled Dog Rescue
Vega is from Sirius Sled Dog Rescue (Spook) and Brent Sass bloodlines (Carbon). Because she is one of the few dogs who has been with us her whole life, she has a bossy attitude and thinks she's all that. Vega finished Iditarod 2022 with Kailyn. Her favorite hobby is giving people kisses and then sneakily trying to lick inside their mouths. Vega will be training on the Iditarod team this year.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Rigo Reyes and Joslyn Olnes, Robyn and Andrew Olnes
2025 Iditarod Sponsor: Kelsi Johnson

Wonder
Birthday: June 15, 2019
From: The August Fund/Bessi and Warren Sinnok
Wonder is the cousin of Chase and Jumper and also comes from Shishmaref. She is much calmer and quieter, but that doesn't mean she isn't always ready to go! Similar to Chase and Jumper, Wonder hadn't been in harness prior to coming to live at ReRun. She has been rocking it and is even spending some time running in lead! Wonder will be training on the Iditarod team this year.

Recreational Dogs
The rec team is comprised of dogs who have aged out of the race team or natually don't want to run as far. These guys still love a good adventure but prefer to only run around 20 miles.

Blazer
Birthday: September 28, 2017
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Blazer is from the Fairbanks animal shelter and is really shy with people but loves her dog friends. She has a lot of funny quirks, loves to talk, and will only run on the right side of the team. She has a beautiful steady trot when she's not being goofy and likes to run in the middle or back of the team for short runs.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Beckie Hunter

Haymitch
Birthday: May 9, 2015
From: Wade Marrs
Haymitch comes from Wade Marrs. He was training with the Iditarod team in 2022 and ended up staying for life after the race season ended. He is a mellow boy who loves quietly lounging on top of his dog house but loses his mind whenever it's time to run or eat. He still loves running but wants to go at a slower speed these days. Haymitch will be training with the Jr mushers for some shorter races this season!
2024-2025 Sponsor: Sarah and Jace Bures

Hunter
Birthday: October 15, 2022
From: PAWS of Nome/The August Fund
Hunter has been diagnosed with megaesophagus and despite his enthusiasm to run in front of the team and his endless energy, he will never be a true racing sled dog because of his medical condition. He sleeps inside at night and has to eat every meal in a special highchair. Hunter has us and everyone who meets him wrapped around his paw.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Kristin and Austin Ouellette

Kevlar
Birthday: March 22, 2016
From: Nenana, AK
Kevlar is brother to KitKat and is one of the strongest leaders in the kennel but has started slowing down and is becoming more prone to wrist injuries. He still has a strong drive to run at a slower more casual speed and is responsible for training most of our current leaders on the race team. Kevlar was on the Iditarod 2022 team and made it about 300 miles. This year, he will be helping our Jr mushers train for shorter races.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Yumi Kawaguchi

Mica
Birthday: November 25, 2017
From: Second Chance League
Mica was adopted from the Fairbanks animal shelter/Second Chance League and is the niece to Dixie and BC. She has never had a bad day in her life. Even at the worst of times she is 100% in a fantastic mood and nothing can bring her down. Her name has morphed from Mica to Mica-moo, and now she only really endearingly responds to Moomoo.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Anonymous

Poppy
Birthday: October 15, 2022
From: The August Fund
Poppy is the wild other half to Hunter. She was originally placed in a pet home but was not doing well and was displaying anxiety, destructive tendencies, and aggression towards strangers. We cautiously took her in, and she has blossomed into her life as a sled dog. Cuddling is an extreme full-contact sport for Poppy. Her favorite place to sleep is on our pillows between us. She is spunky and sassy and loves to play hard with all her dog friends.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Yumi Kawaguchi

Zeke
Birthday: March 20, 2014
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Zeke is from the Fairbanks animal shelter and was almost euthanized because he came in with such a bad skin infection and mange from an abusive situation. Through running and medicine he was able to recover and has finished many races including Iditarod 2016. He was on Kailyn's Iditarod 2022 team and made it halfway. Google him to read his full amazing story!
2024-2025 Sponsor: Gil and Sandy Glover
Retired Dogs
The retired crew consists of dogs who would rather lounge around on the couch. Every once in a while they want to do a short one mile run, but for the most part they prefer the slow easy life.

BC
Birthday: December 21, 2014
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
BC is uncle to Mica and brother to Dixie. He loves to sing and howl but is 100% deaf. He has free reign of the dog yard and enjoys sleeping in a different dog house each day and sometimes even curls up in the straw inside the mushing gear tent. Every once in a while he will come inside, but he prefers his freedom outdoors with all his buddies.

Dixie
Birthday: December 21, 2014
From: Sirius Sled Dog Rescue
Dixie is from Sirius Sled Dog Rescue and still loves running but not for more than a couple miles. She is part siberian and lets you know it with her constant "woo woos". She is also the aunt to Mica and sister to BC. When Dixie gets excited about something, she taps her front feet up and down in a cute little dance.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Shirley Banks

Loki
Birthday: February 28, 2010
From: Fairbanks Animal Control
Loki was a frequent flier at the Fairbanks animal shelter before finding his third and final home at ReRun Kennel. He is pyranese-turned-sled-dog who has a case of vestibular "old dog syndrome". He overheats inside the house with his thick coat and prefers to take up residence outside doing what he loves best: fending off every single raven/squirrel/stray dog/vole/falling leaf/gust of wind.

Nemo
Birthday: February 1, 2011
From: Deke Naaktgeboren
Nemo is from Deke Naaktgeboren and is so endearing with his short ears and wide-set eyes. He is an adorable little gummy bear! Nemo excels in the swing position right behind the leaders, and he's an excellent puppy trainer. Even though he physically can't run extreme miles anymore, he still loves going on occasional short runs.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Dutch Johnson

Panda
Birthday: March 23, 2014
From: Black Spruce Dogsledding
Panda was Kailyn's first "gateway dog" who came from the Deeters because she was very sick as a baby. When Panda runs, she demands to be in lead. However she isn't emotionally invested in running anymore these days and loves to spend her time inside on the couch and going to work with Kailyn. Panda is the boss of everyone and takes her job seriously.
2024-2025 Sponsor: Dutch Johnson

River
Birthday: September 8, 2011
From: Sirius Sled Dog Rescue/FNSB AC
River was brought to the Fairbanks animal shelter and wasn't being adopted due to her old age, although she's the sweetest of grandma dogs. When she was put on the short list to be euthanized, Sirius Sled Dog Rescue took her in. She is now living her golden years out on the couch with us, and she loves following Justin around the yard while he works on various projects.
